Lexcye's summer trailer
SIMON's SUMMER TRAILER
There are two ways of going about creating a teaser trailer, first by using the 3 act structure. The first act should contain shots from the equilibrium. This should contain shots from the opening of the story, showing the setting and giving a hint of the story line before the disruption. The next act of the trailer should introduce the disruption. This is the moment where things start to go wrong. At this point the pace of the shots should increase in order to add suspense. Finally, the third act of the trailer should be the most captivating and longest part of the trailer. This should include fast editing, increasing pace as the trailer reaches the end. Most importantly, this part part of the trailer should include lots of stock scenes. Stock scenes, otherwise known as set pieces, are shots of things that you would expect to see in a horror trailer. For example; the final girl running away and falling over.
However, not all horror teaser trailers need to use this structure. Another way i by using one set scene of the trailer to show part of the story to the audience, which is the technique i used for my summer horror trailer. In the trailer i created over the summer period, i didn't include many stock scenes nor used a increase of pace between shots. In order to create a more effective horror trailer, i will apply these in my future work.
