SOUNDTRACK BY SIMON
How does this soundtrack progress and associate with horror teaser trailers?
Due to this being a horror teaser trailer it was kept short, at 51 seconds. However it includes all the vital audiable parts needed to create the perfect mood and atmosphere for a horror trailer. It starts off with 4 loud bangs where an unexpected fright can occur. It then immediately leads into slow, settling in music. This is the point where the equilibrium and trademarks should be shown as it is the shortest and calmest part of the soundtrack. The soundtrack then goes into a progressive woosh sound, with heartbeats overlaying it. This is the moment of break where the trailer goes into all the stock scenes and money shots to sell the film as best as it can. This part of the soundtrack is very dramatic and fast paced, till it gets to the climax and ends on a drone sound.
The sounds used
My preparation of creating this soundtrack involved looking through other horror teaser trailers. I realised it isn't about adding sound effects we are all may think are associated with horror; such as cackling witches or booing ghosts. These trailers use instruments and sound effects to create atmosphere and mood, progressing through the trailer. The sounds include: Strings, Dark baselines, drones, woosh sounds, heartbeats, crashes, heavy dramatic percussion etc.
However, there will be more diagetic sound added to the trailer, such as heavy breathing, which can't be created in the soundtrack but will only come from the captured world of the film.

INFLUENES
In this trailer, there is no sound at all for a large chunk of it. But it is clear that there is a progression in the non-diagetic audio of the trailer. Therefore, this inspired me to also create a progression in the soundtrack, imagining what video sections could be placed and where.

This trailer consisted of sound effects ideal for setting the mood. Lots of drones and mellow, spooky synths were placed in the background as well as SFX such as church bell gongs, associating with religion. Therefore, i also designed a soundtrack to try and represent the mood. I added sound effects such as heartbeats for further effect.

SOFTWARE
In order to arrange my soundtrack, i used Logic Pro X as i am comfortable with using this Digital Audio Workstation. It allows me to record sounds and instruments separately and also input sound effects and drones i have downloaded from the internet. I then captured the logic file using screen grabber robot, exported a .wav file of it and created a video using iMovie to show what the soundtrack consists of.
ANIMATIC WITH MY SOUNDTRACK APPLIED
Here, i applied the soundtrack to the the drawings created by Tanya and adjusted the timing of the images from the storyboard in order to fit the trailer.
